Peri-operative Period, EMTREE and keywords, for EMBASE

This strategy was created to cover the "peri-operative" portion of a routine (non-exhaustive) search for articles with a major focus on peri-operative pain management.  It's just an initial stab at the peri-operative concept.  Additional procedure names could be added to the yellow highlighted section; the proximity operators could be handled differently; terms for operating room personnel, anesthetists, surgeons, etc could be added, etc, etc.

('perioperative period'/exp OR 'surgery'/exp/mj OR 'physical disease'/exp/mj/dm_su OR 'recovery room'/exp/mj OR 'operating room'/exp/mj OR preop*:ti OR 'pre op*':ti OR periop*:ti OR 'peri op*':ti OR 'intra-operative':ti OR 'intra operative':ti OR postop*:ti OR 'post op*':ti OR pacu:ti OR 'recovery room*':ti OR (((following OR after OR post OR pre OR peri OR before OR 'prior to' OR during) NEXT/2 (surg* OR operative OR operation* OR procedur* OR anesth* OR anaesth* OR tonsillect* OR appendect* OR nissan* OR fundoplicat* OR myotom* OR myringotom*)):ti) OR (((operative OR surgical OR procedural) NEXT/1 pain):ti))

Pancreas Surgery -- Keywords and MeSH

This search was composed by myself and my colleagues as a strategy that could be used for relatively focused, non-exhaustive searches.

( "Pancreas Transplantation"[Mesh] OR "Pancreatectomy"[Mesh] OR "Pancreaticoduodenectomy"[Mesh] OR "Pancreaticojejunostomy"[Mesh] OR "Biliopancreatic Diversion"[Mesh] OR "Pancreas/surgery"[Mesh] OR ("Pancreatic Diseases/surgery"[Mesh] NOT "cystic fibrosis") OR ((pancrea*[ti] OR bilio-pancreatic[ti] OR biliopancreatic[ti] OR "islet cell"[ti] OR Nesidioblast* OR "Pancreas"[Majr] OR "Pancreatic Diseases"[Majr] ) AND (diversion*[ti] OR bypass*[ti] OR surg*[ti] OR resect*[ti] OR operat*[ti] OR remov*[ti] OR excis*[ti] OR transplant*[ti] OR graft*[ti] OR allograft*[ti] OR "Surgical Procedures, Operative"[Majr] OR "surgery"[sh]) ) OR Pancreaticoduodenectom* OR Duodenopancreatectom* OR whipple[tiab] OR "Kausch-Whipple"[tiab] OR pancreatect* OR Pancreaticojejunostom* OR "pancreatic surgery" OR "pancreatic surgeries" OR “biliopancreatic surgery” OR "pancreatitis surgery" OR "pancreas transplantation" OR "pancreas transplantations" OR "pancreas surgery"[tiab] OR "pancreas resection" OR "pancreatic resection" OR "pancreatic resections" OR hemipancreatectom* OR pancreaticogastrostom* OR “endoscopic papillotomy” OR “endoscopic papillotomies” )

The following phrases were removed because they are not, at present, recognized by PubMed and caused retrieval of irrelevant results:
"pancreas surgeries" OR "biliopancreatic surgeries" OR   "pancreatitis surgeries"  OR "pancreatitis surgeries"

A first try.  The keyword portion of the search was also being prepared for use in EMBASE.  For this reason, the hyphenated terms were not truncated.

When specific procedures are of interest, it is important to represent them, e.g.
